I just signed up for Chicago. Then I threw up from nerves.
So the plan is to train for it now and see how that goes. Assuming I stay healthy, I will run it. I have the time to train now, but it has been in the 50's lately so it is too cold to run.
I assume MTC will be getting a block of rooms, yes? If so, can you count me in for that?
FYI Boys... I also just signed up for Chicago. I emailed the race director asking about the process for elite entry (if I don't quite have the time yet, etc.).
They suggested signing up as early as possible (they always say that) but then said they expect the race to be sold out within a month... so SIGN UP NOW!!!! Good times in Chi-Town...
In terms of the top 100 program, it looks like they no longer require you to be Top 100, just to hit the time. So, for anyone that has run under 71 min, you're set!
FYI guys... I am actually in the Elite Development corral for Chicago. Just got word from the director that they'll accept my 2:31:11 at Boston! Nice! Truth is that 11 seconds off, at Boston, into that head wind is easily the equivalent of a sub 2:31 elsewhere, so I am happy they took it, but its a nice little relief. It puts a lot less pressure on NJ for me now, which is good, though I still plan to go 70 min or under, but means I can just work miles through the spring like I was hoping to.
So...what you were saying earlier Del, is that if you don't register before it sells out, it doesn't matter if you make the Elite Standard. I remember reading somewhere on their webpage that if you had the elite standard you could wait till September to register for the race.
Good question Rob, I saw that as well... based on the email I got back from the guy I believe it means that you can get into the elite development corral anytime till Sep 1 but you need to be registered... basically, if it sells out (which it probably will by the end of the spring) then they can't get anyone else in even if you hit the elite development standard.
That was my understanding after emailing with them, but you might want to check with them yourself, I did see that section on the website. However, I am kind of under the impression that if I know I'm running it, I should just sign up and be done...
Hey Did anyone every email the elite athlete director to explicitly find out if we have until Sept 1 to register for the race, or just until then to register for the Elite Dev Prog?
cote and cap in a marathon, damn things are getting crazy. i hope to still do chicago, not sure that will happen. just started PT for my knee problems and now stretching a lot,...hope that helps and i can get back to training fully, instead of this 5-7 miles every other day nonsense. hope to get healthy and run with MTC again, it's been since June that I have run with the group.
Chris - I thought the knee was on the mend, no? Sorry to hear you are still struggling. I know what it's like. Stick to the treatment. I want to see you in Chicago!
