Suprise Upset, Arkansas Beats BMTC at MOC!

In a shocking turn of events the Arkansas Razorbacks upset the Brooks Manhattan Track Club 20-304 last week at the Iona Meet of Champions. Team founder Ray Biersbach had this to say about his teams performance, 'It was a tough day for us and a great day for the Razorbacks. When I passed 5k and I could see those red and white singlets way way out in front across | the field I was thinking they would come back in a hurry over the last 1k. I thought they were a bit overzealous taking that big lead with a tight pack of 15 runners up front but I guess we underestimated them. I really knew we were in trouble when I got to the top of cemetary hill and people were already looking at printed results from the first finishers.' Karl Dusen and Pat Anglin led the way for the BMTC and just missed breaking into the Arkansas top 11. When asked to comment on his teams defeat of the Manhattan Track Club Coach John McDonnald had this to say, 'The who? I have no idea what you are talking about.' After hearing that Seth Holland said, 'It's probably just head games. We'll get'em next time.' As evidenced by the post race picture the BMTC is a team that takes even the toughest days in stride.

BMTC Stampedes in Stillwater - June 4th 2005
Probably the greatest sporting event outside of the Olympics was held in Swartzwood State park this first Sunday in June 2005. The Stillwater Stampede, hosted by the Bears Running Club, featured an array of former SCIL Champions including Ray Biersbach, Seth Holland and Ryan Hashway. Unfortuately due to extreme ill-fitness 1997 xc-champ Mike (sicko) Sikorski could not be in attendance. The front spots were dominated by the BMTC with Ray Biersbach and John Cote both going under the previous course record set by former World Champion and World Record holder Marcus O'Sullivan. Althought it doesn't mention it Seth Holland showed up at the race 3 minutes before the gun went off looking like someone hit him with a 2x4 all night. Seth still managed to pull together some hometown pride and finish a respectable 3rd.

Larry Ellis Invite - Princeton, NJ - April 23, 2005
Seth Holland ran a season best 5k of 15:04. Seth lead the charge in the second pack for most of the race. Seth and fellow second-packers managed to catch the fading lead pack in the final 800 meters. Seth worked back from approximately 25th early on to finish in 11th. Ray Biersbach ran a career worst 1500 in 4:02 on this cold and rainy night in Princeton NJ. The cold and wet conditions proved costly for Pat Anglin who DNF'd with a hamstring strain in the 1500m. Hopefully the spring will start soon because the conditions tonight proved to be ugly for almost everyone.
